I was fond of technical subjects and was doing coding research on my own, through freeCodeCamp. I used to like C++ language during my college degree and wanted to do something related to programming. Coming to Berlin opened opportunities for me through coding bootcamps and made me realize that I can pursue what I want. Therefore, I got enrolled in a full-time bootcamp course to study fullstack development and gained practical knowledge about the necessary tech stacks.
I chose Code Academy because of excellent reviews and good curriculum. I wanted to gain necessary knowledge of the important tech stacks for full-stack and after researching about different bootcamps, I decided to go for Code Academy. Also the course was full-time consisting of around 840 hours which helped me gain an in-depth knowledge of the required technologies in the market.
In this course, I learnt HTML, CSS, MERN stack and got a chance to take part in a collaborative project including Next.js, TypeScript, GraphQL and React. The course followed agile scrum methodology where there used be regular standup meetings to give updates regarding the projects. There were several spikes to learn both the theory and practical implementation of the technologies. The mentors had been super helpful throughout the course. They were professional and had an in-depth knowledge of the course and languages they were teaching. They were available to schedule meetings everyday to solve any issues with the projects. Apart from professionalism, they also tried to maintain a positive environment which helped learning super fun. There was also career week dedicated to enlighten students about the current job market. There were guidelines about how to update your linkedIn profile and make it more prominent, how to write an effective CV and mock interviews to prepare students for the real-life technical interviews. On the light side, there small but sweet graduation ceremonies for every cohort. There used to be movie nights, as well as pub quiz night as ice breakers to improve collaboration.
My experience has been great overall. I got a good exposure to not only the necessary tech stacks but also got a chance to work in a culturally diverse environment. There had been times when I was stuck in problems related to my projects, but thanks to wonderful mentors who were always there to support us. Although, I still need to improve my coding skills and gain more practical experience in the technologies prevalent in the tech market, but I can say that Code Academy helped me in getting the initial knowledge of the programming, both for front end and back end.
I created a Single Page Application using FakeStore API. I utilized the tech stacks of React framework and JavaScript to achieve the final website with good user experience. It contains the display page of all products, login, sign-up and delete account functionality using Firebase Auth. The user can sign-in after signing up and keep products in favorites and cart of their account. So whenever they login back they can have those items in the cart or they can also remove them from cart or favorites, increase quantity, decrease quantity and more.
